The North Shropshire Beekeepers' Association (NSBKA) aims to encourage and develop the art and science of bee keeping through group meetings, practical apiary events and educational support programmes in which members can participate and contribute.
The Association was founded on Friday 23 August 1945, and has members spread across the northern part of Shropshire, as well as a few from further afield (including Scotland). The Association have been a fully affiliated member of the British Beekeepers' Association (BBKA) since their inception.
Throughout the winter months (October to March), evening meetings are held where the very best speakers on bee keeping and associated activities are invited to share their specialist skills and knowledge at our monthly meetings, usually held in Tilstock village hall.

The Association maintains an apiary at an organic farm in North Shropshire and during the spring and summer months we meet at this Association apiary, or a member's apiary, to perform general hive management tasks, observe and practice bee handling techniques, and share their latest bee keeping tales in order to help everyone improve their understanding of bees and their behaviour and maximize their efficacy in promoting their ongoing health and performance. |
The North Shropshire Beekeepers' Association also has a list of volunteers who offer to help with honey bee swarm collection during the swarming season. Our volunteer beekeepers are only able to help in the case of a honey bee swarm. This link takes you to The British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) for advice and guidance on swarms as well as a map showing your nearest volunteer honey bee swarm collector, who may or may not be a member of the NSBKA.
