This talk will briefly look at the history of varroa in Shropshire and why it is important to control numbers in a colony. John will then explain what IPM is and look at the various options within IPM for the control of varroa, how and when to apply. John has kept bees for 20 years, currently having 18 colonies across three apiaries to the west of Shrewsbury. He is the Chair and Education Lead for Shropshire BKA and in BBKA terminology a ‘Qualified Beekeeper’ with the Advanced Theory certificate.
