There is no need to pre-register for this event. Having grown up in Yorkshire with bees in the garden, Pete Sutcliffe has been keeping bees for over thirty years now, having started out with two home-made WBCs inherited from his father. He now works in a beekeeping team with his wife: together they keep an average of 20 colonies on various sites in the Dane Valley in Cheshire. Pete is a Master Beekeeper and has held a number of senior positions within BBKA and Cheshire BKA - and will be known to many NSBKA members as their Basic Assessor! Pete will talk to us about species of bee other than Honey bees such as bumble bees and solitary bees. Pete is going to share information about the amazing variety and lifestyles of these fascinating bees (some don't look like bees at all). There are over 250 species of bee in the UK, including 25 species of bumblebees, and one species of honeybee. Worldwide, there are 20,000 known species of bees. Knowing a little about these different bees puts our own honey bees in a different context, and adds to the interest of beekeeping.
