"Variations in temperature, plus northerly and easterly winds, have much reduced external colony activity but westerly rain-bearing winds will raise temperatures into the teens and this will create conditions that will encourage the foragers to venture out, to exploit any pollen and nectar-producing plants. All colonies have internal stores to rely on, and as autumn turns into winter, the sources of pollen and nectar will inevitably disappear. ...."
